Varna is a popular resort located on the east coast of Bulgaria, which also offers a selection of museums and art galleries. Culturally the city is rich in historic buildings such as the ruins of the Roman baths and the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin.

Due to the popularity of the resort, the price of holiday homes in the area has risen as demand has increased. Since 2003, Varna has seen a 25% increase in the price of holiday homes and a 15-20% increase in the price of apartments - with centrally located apartments rising in price the most.

Rental opportunities are many with the peak being between the summer months and properties with sea views in most demand.

Burgas is the fourth largest city in Bulgaria and is located on the east coast, south of Varna. The city is primarily of an industrial nature which means there are fewer historical sites than other Bulgarian cities, but this does not put off tourists, with up to 200,000 visitors coming to the area each year.

Burgas is a strong all round investment. There is no one outstanding feature, but many good features, which add up to a strong investment candidate. The shopping centre is popular, there are reasonable beaches in close proximity and there are spectacular lakes in the area.

Bankso, Borovets and Pamporovo

Bankso, Borovets and Pamporovo are three of Bulgaria's most popular skiing resorts and are located in the Rodopi mountain range. Bankso has seen direct investment in the resort in recent years and this has led to property prices rising by 300% due to the interest from foreign property investors keen to grab a bargain property. Bankso is a cheaper option than Borovets and Pamporovo and the property typically consists of wood and traditional stone taverns.

Bankos is the most expensive of the resorts with Pamporovo close behind. Both have excellent amenities and can get incredibly busy during peak months. It is during this time that rental property is in shortage and you could expect to receive a 20% above average rental income during the November to April season.

Veliki Tarnovo

Veliki Tarnovo is a centrally located medieval town, which is known as the "City of the Tsars". The area is traditionally Bulgarian and consists of narrow streets and traditional cobbled squares.

The city boasts a good university and there is a wide selection of properties available at affordable prices. There is a demand for properties in this area and there is also a year long rental opportunity due to the large student population.
