The house purchasing procedure in Finland is very simple in comparison with many other countries, with the added bonus being that you do not have to deal with a lawyer! Although it is not necessary, if you are a cautious investor you may wish to appoint a lawyer to oversee the finer points of the sale.

Strictly speaking, the seller and buyer of a property play somewhat of a passive role in the technical aspects of the sale. Once a sale price has been agreed between the buyer and seller, the process is completed between the estate agent and respective bank managers. The only additional role that the buyer and seller will play is to sign on the dotted line and decide on a move date. The legal documentation will be produced in Finish, but the number of Finish residents that speak English is very high so it is almost inevitable that the estate agent, bank manager or lawyer will be able to translate the documents for you.
