Algarve

The Algarve is located on the southern part of Portugal and runs from the Spanish border on the east at Vila Real de Santo Antonio to Cabo de Sao Vicente in the west facing the Atlantic. The main resorts are located in Faro, which houses the areas international airport, Albufeira, Portimao and Lagos. These areas are popular with holidaymakers and house hunters alike and there are a number of new off-plan developments regularly being built. Further west along the Algarve is the town of Carvoeira, which offers a more authentic small town Portuguese feel.

Recently, the Algarve has been reinvented as a haven for golfers, with over 30 of the 60 golf courses in Portugal being located in the area.

Silver Coast (Costa de Prata)

The Silver Coast stretches from central Portugal at Castelo de Paiva to the north of Portugal at Arrude dos Vinhos and contains a selection of the most historical and architecturally rich buildings in the country.

There are numerous small villages and fishing towns on the Silver Coast and the excellent beaches are often very quiet. One of the most charming villages is Nazare, which combines a stunning beach with the character of a traditional Portuguese fishing village.

North of Nazare, is the city of Aveiro and not too far from Lisbon is the city of Leiria whose heritage can be traced back to ancient times and houses the abbeys of Alcobaca and Batalha as well as the famous shrine of Fatima.
