Slovakia is well kept secret amongst foreign property investors. For the past decade or so the Slovakian economy has boomed which has led to an increase in foreign direct investment, which in turn has led to property price increases. There is also scope for investment potential in the Tatras Mountain area as the resorts there are set to take off with skiers.

The rental market is rather small when compared to other European nations due to the Slovakian preference to own their own home and also government rent control restrictions. The good news is that the government is due to phase out the rental restrictions and this may kick start the rentals market. Also, Bratislava is ideally placed for trips to Vienna (60 km to the west) so there is good scope for renting to tourists.
